Emerald Ash Borer Control

The last thing you want to see is your once towering and vibrant ash trees slowly succumbing to the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). This hidden enemy systematically destroys ash trees, leaving behind brittle and hazardous timber in only a few short years. Without prompt and proper intervention, this relentless pest can lead to the death of the trees you’ve invested so much in cultivating.

At Gamma Tree Experts, we offer effective, long-term EAB treatment designed to protect your ash trees and prevent infestation before it takes hold, so they continue to thrive.

Signs Your Ash Tree Is at Risk from EAB

Effective ash tree treatment begins with recognizing the early signs of an EAB infestation. Some key indicators to look out for include:

  • Canopy dieback: The first noticeable sign of an EAB infestation is canopy dieback — you’ll notice the crown of your ash tree appearing sparse with fewer leaves than usual. It’s also common for branches to die as a result.
  • Increased woodpecker activity: EAB larvae under the bark of ash trees serve as food for woodpeckers. If you notice an unusual increase in woodpecker activity on your ash tree, it may be a strong sign of infestation.
  • D-shaped exit holes: Adult EAB beetles create distinctive D-shaped exit holes, about 1/8 inch in diameter, when they emerge from ash trees. Although they may be difficult to spot, you’ll typically find these holes on the trunk or larger branches.
  • New, leafy sprouts: In an attempt to survive, ash trees infested with EAB often sprout from the trunk or roots, typically below where EAB larvae are feeding.

Several factors influence the cost of ash borer treatment, including tree size, infestation severity and treatment type. It’s typically a small investment compared to the high cost of tree removal and replacement, which may be thousands of dollars.
